Heart of Darkness and Duality of Man Inspired Poem (RL8.4) Heart of Darkness Unit Task: Now that we have read a plethora of stories and poems from our Heart of Darkness and Duality of Man unit, your task is to write a poem that maintains one of the themes discussed throughout our unit and evidenced in a short story or poem that we have read. Requirements: Your poem must include the following components: A Rhyme Scheme A Minimum of THREE Allusions (allusions to mythology, lines from poems or stories that you have read, etc.; must be cited so do your research!) Examples of Figurative Language (Similes, Metaphors, Onomatopoeia, Personification, Hyperbole, etc.) Strong and Consistent Word Choice (maintain a particular tone through your word choice) Repetition of a Word, Line, or Phrase (Motifs) Minimum of 25 Lines (perhaps use stanzas) Maintains a Consistent Theme throughout the poem Challenge yourself and have fun, while being creative with this assignment. And be sure to cite those allusions.
