SideSideSide Triangle Congruence
Students will prove triangles congruent using the SSS Triangle Congruence Theorem
In the previous lesson, we learned that to show that two triangles are congruent, we need to have 3 congruent sides, and 3 congruent angles. SSS Congruence.notebook

When determining congruence, often the figures are not separate, rather, they are combined in some way. You will use the both vertical angles and the reflexive property to help you determine congruence.
This triangle pair has a reflexive side. That means one side is shared by both triangles. Therefore that side is congruent to itself.
This triangle pair has common vertex formed by a pair of vertical angles. Even though they are not marked, the vertical angles are congruent by the definition of vertical angles. Luckily, we don't have to always show 3 sides AND 3 angles are congruent to proclaim a triangle congruent, we have a few postulates to aid us...
The first is...

Can you use SSS Congruence Theorem to say the two triangles are congruent? If NOT, explain why you cannot use SSS or answer the question: What is missing?

Ticket out the Door: 1. In your own words, state the SideSideSide congruence postulate. 2. Draw your own example of the sideside
side congruence postulate.
