DRY-DOCK OF SEMI-SUBMERSIBLE
DRILLING RIG OCEAN MONARCH
In 2015, the Dockwise White Marlin was called
upon to dry-dock the semi-submersible drilling rig
Ocean Monarch in Singapore. The Ocean
Monarch was scheduled to be wet towed to a new
drilling contract in Australia. Due to the highly
protected ecological environment in the waters
and reefs off of Australia, all marine units that are
stationed to work in local waters must have their
hulls cleaned to eliminate the risk of infestation
from marine life that could damage this sensitive
eco system. The Dockwise White Marlin was able
to successfully lift the Ocean Monarch utilizing
1.2 m cribbing. The Ocean Monarch was on deck
for about a week while workers cleaned the
pontoons without the need for an expensive diving
operation.
