Convergent • Describe in detail what happens along a convergent boundary (5 points). Boundaries • Identify differences that occur when at least one of the plates involved is oceanic (2 points). • Explain how this would alter the surface of the Earth (5 points). • Provide three examples of convergent boundaries on Earth, including at least two pieces of Grade for this portion = / 28 Divergent Boundaries Grade for this portion = / 27 evidence that exists at each location supporting that it is a convergent boundary (3 points per location – 1 for correctly identifying it as a convergent boundary; 2 points for the 2 pieces of evidence). • Include vocabulary terms: mountains, volcanoes, earthquakes, trenches, mega-‐thrust earthquakes, island arc, subduction (1 point each). • Describe in detail what happens along a divergent boundary (5 points). • Identify differences that occur when a divergent boundary occurs on land as opposed to underwater (2 points). • Explain how this would alter the surface of the Earth (5 points). • Provide three examples of divergent boundaries on Earth, including at least two pieces of evidence that exists at each location supporting that it is a divergent boundary (3 points per location – 1 for correctly identifying it as a divergent boundary; 2 points for the 2 pieces of evidence). • Include vocabulary terms: mountains, volcanoes, earthquakes, rift, ridge, sea-‐floor spreading (1 point each).
