Rules for Multiplying and Dividing Numbers
 If both numbers have the same sign (either both positive numbers or both
negative numbers)
o Multiply or divide the numbers
o The answer is positive
o 3 x 4 = 12; -4 x -5 = 20
o 4 / 2 = 2;
-3 / -3 = 1
 If the numbers have different signs
o Multiply or divide the numbers
o The answer is negative
o -11 x 6 = -66; 5 x -7 = -35
o -12 / 3 = -4; 6 / -2 = -3
 Multiplying and Dividing by zero:
o Any number multiplied by zero is zero
 0 x 5 = 0; 3 x 0 = 0; -4 x 0 = 0; 0 x 12 = 0
o You can NEVER DIVIDE BY zero; the answer is UNDEFINED
 2 / 0 = undefined; -4 / 0 = UNDEFINED
 “Under” is undefined
o You CAN have zero in the numerator when dividing; the answer is
zero
 0 / 5 = 0; 0 / -7 = 0
