Michel Pellerin is professor of surgery at the university of Montreal, where he also serves as a
cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon at the Montreal Heart Institute. He was Head of the Department
Surgery from 2004 to 2012 and he is the actual Director of the Prospective Heart Valves Clinic.
Dr Pellerin graduated in medicine at University Laval in 1985, then in General Surgery in 1990. He
subspecialized in Cardiovascular surgery at the University of Montreal in 1993. He has completed a Master
in Science in surgical biology and artificial organs at the University of Paris VI under the leadership of Pr
Alain F Carpentier MD PhD as a scholar of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
Dr Pellerin has authored and co-authored more than 130 articles and abstracts in peer-reviewed
publications.
He has also written several book chapters and multimedia surgical videos.
Dr Pellerin is a frequently invited lecturer and his most recent topics of discussion are: mitral valve repair,
surgical technology, long term outcomes after valve surgery, and minimally invasive cardiac surgery.
