Transcript
Eukaryotic animal cell:
NUCLEUS
Contains genetic material.
DNA / RNA
Genetic material found in the nucleus.
CELL MEMBRANE Like a skin around the cell. It keeps the cell together
and controls what passes in and out.
CYTOPLASM
Contains the organelles and many of the cell’s
activities take place here.
VACUOLES
Like bags, surrounded by membranes where
substances, mainly water, accumulate.
MITOCHONDRIA Where energy is obtained from nutrients.
Eukaryotic plant cell:
NUCLEUS
Contains genetic material.
DNA / RNA
Genetic material found in the nucleus.
CELL MEMBRANE Like a skin around the cell. It keeps the cell together
and controls what passes in and out.
CELL WALL
A thick, rigid wall made of cellulose.
CYTOPLASM
Contains the organelles and many of the cell’s
activities take place here.
VACUOLES
Like bags, surrounded by membranes where
substances, mainly water, accumulate.
MITOCHONDRIA Where energy is obtained from nutrients.
CHLOROPLASTS
(photosynthesis)
These store a green pigment, chlophyll, which
absorbs the Sun’s energy to elaborate organic matter
during photosynthesis.
Prokaryotic cell (bacteria): (smaller than eukaryotic)
DNA / RNA
Genetic material found in the cytoplasm.
