Postoperative Thyroid Remnant Ablation after rTSH
(without preceding diagnostic radioiodine scan)

Continue taking your dose of thyroid hormone
On _____________, begin to follow the Low Iodine Diet Instructions for two
weeks
On Monday, __________________ at ____AM you will receive an injection
of recombinant TSH ( Thyrogen®) at _______________.
On Tuesday, _________________ at _____AM you will receive a second
injection at the same location.
At ________, report to the laboratory for a TSH, thyroglobulin, and
stat hCG pregnancy blood test (indicated for women). Bring your
laboratory slip with you.
At ________, report to ____________________ to receive your
radioiodine treatment.
Follow radiation safety instructions afterwards.
You may resume your normal diet 6 hours after your treatment.
On Thursday, ________________at ______, report to ________________
for a post-treatment scan. Following the scan, you will have an
appointment with Dr. Diez/Dr.Lassman.
