Topic #3 – Angles (general)
Angles are measured as a fractional amount of a full circle = 360°.
Classification




Acute – measures between 0° and 90°
Right – measures exactly 90°
Obtuse – measures between 90° and 180°
Straight – measures exactly 180°
Terms


Complementary – two angles whose sum is 90°
Supplementary – two angles whose sum is 180°
Angles form by Intersecting Lines

Vertical angles – across from each other – are congruent

Triangles




The sum of the interior angles of a triangle is 180°.
 m1  m2  m3  180
The exterior angle equals the sum of the nonadjacent interior angles.
 m4  m1  m2
Isosceles triangles – base angles are equal
 5  6
Equilateral triangles – all angles are equal
