Explain the phases of swallowing. Define bolus of food. Explain the roles of the uvula and epliglottis in food movement. 6. Use a picture or model to show the layers of the GI tract wall. Describe the composition and functions of each layer. Describe peristalsis. 7. Identify the esophagus. What is its function? 8. Name the parts of the stomach. What are the functions of the stomach? What are the unique histological features of the stomach. Identify the unique cells within the gastric pits, and list what they secrete. Explain the disorder of ulcers. 9.
