September - cancer awareness month for: Blood Cancer | Childhood Cancer | Ovarian Cancer | Thyroid Cancer | Prostate Cancer… #TakeActionNotChances Cancer: • A disease in which abnormal cells divide uncontrollably and destroy body tissue. • This year about 564,800 Americans are expected to die of cancer—more than 1,500 people a day. • Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the US, exceeded only by heart disease. • One of every four deaths in the US is from cancer. Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month September: Thyroid Cancer Awareness Month Blood Cancer Awareness Month • A cancer that begins in the female organs that produce eggs (ovaries). • Rare (20,000 to 200,000 US cases per year) • Ovarian cancer often has no symptoms in the early stages. Later stages are associated with symptoms, but they can be non-specific, such as loss of appetite and weight loss. • Surgery and chemotherapy are generally used to treat ovarian cancer. • A cancer of blood-forming tissues, hindering the body's ability to fight infection. Childhood Cancer Awareness Month • Each year, nearly 100,000 children under 15 die from cancer worldwide. • Unlike adult cancer the childhood cancer response better with chemo so can be cured if screened on time.
