This document outlines when specific terms relating to verb forms and tenses are mentioned in the NC. Teaching of basic tenses will begin before year 2.
Reference to teaching of verb tenses can be found in the Year 1 Writing-transcription (spelling) PoS:
 using the spelling rule for adding –s or –es as the plural marker for nouns and the third person marker for verbs’
 ‘using –ing, -ed, -er and –est where no change is needed in the spelling of root words [for example, helping, helped, helper, eating, quicker, quickest]
