SCHAUMACID PROTECT
Supplemental feed for pigs and poultry
The effect of SCHAUMACID PROTECT GRANULAT:
SCHAUMACID PROTECT GRANULAT is an effective combination of formic, lactic, propionic, sorbic and citric
acid as well as mid chain fatty acids. Due to its balanced combination of short and mid chain fatty acids grampositive as well as gram-negative pathogens are inhibited and regulated.
SCHAUMACID PROTECT GRANULAT for an ideal effect in the three categories:


Strengthening of the anti-microbial barrier, 


Stabilisation of digestion as well as 

Performance improvement and assurance. 

Through the use of state of the art mixing and formulation technique SCHAUMACID PROTECT GRANULAT is an
acid combination with multi-level effect for a secure use. This acid mixture presents a low evaporation rate, low
corrosiveness, no hazardous good (classified as irritant) as well as a complex mixture.
SCHAUMACID PROTECT containing mid chain fatty acids (MCFAs)
Mid chain fatty acids are a component of diverse natural fats. Fatty acids with a chain length of 6 to 12 carbon
atoms belong to this category.
MCFAs effectively inhibit growth of gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria such as:


Clostridium perfringens 


Streptococcus spp. 

Staphylococcus spp. 
Especially gram-positive bacteria are very robust and resistant due to their stable and thick cell wall. In former
times, their resistant murein layer made it difficult to inhibit this bacterial group effectively by the use of acids.
Therefore, SCHAUMACID PROTECT GRANULAT contains mid chain fatty acids which can pass this cell wall
already in light to moderate acidic milieu without problems. The cell wall gets damaged and bacterial growth
inhibited.

Praxis trial (Lutten):
Many positive results from praxis concerning SCHAUMACID PROTECT where the reason to conduct a
standardised praxis trial in the piglet rearing unit of the pig breeding farm
“Schweinezucht Lutten”. This trial should show the effects of SCHAUMACID PROTECT on the performance
parameteres in piglet rearing. To reach this goal a simple acid mixture made of formic and propionic acid was
exchanged against SCHAUMACID PROTECT.
Trial design:
1200 weaned piglets (600 per trial group) Ø 28
days and 7.5 kg live weight
42 days rearing period
Almost ad libitum feeding with liquid feed
Control group: 0.8 % liquid acid mixture (formic and propionic acid) Trial group:
0.8 % SchaumaCid Protect
