PSCO Board of Directors Recommended Bylaws Change #1
CURRENT BYLAWS: Article I
The name of this organization shall be the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, hereinafter referred to as "the
Society", "this Society", or “PCSO”. This Society is recognized as a constituent of the American Association of
Orthodontists, also referred to as the AAO.
The territorial jurisdiction of this Society shall be comprised of members practicing in Alaska, Alberta, Arizona,
British Columbia, California, Hawaii, that part of Idaho, which includes Twin Falls and Ketchum and all areas west
within Idaho, Nevada, the Northwest Territories, Oregon, Saskatchewan, and Washington, the Yukon Territories,
and the territorial possessions of the United States in the Pacific area.
RECOMMENDED AMENDMENT: Article I

American Dental Association Membership: Be a member in good standing of the American Dental Association if
practice or residence is in the United States or one of its possessions, except those active academic applicants
involved only in teaching or research and who are unable to obtain ADA membership because they are not engaged
in the practice of dentistry in the U.S. and do not possess a license to practice dentistry in their respective states.
(An active member who was a member of this Society on May 4, 1983, but not a member of the ADA on that date,
is exempt from the ADA membership requirement).

Once approved by the Board, the amendment shall be presented to the membership at least thirty (30) days prior to
the next Annual session, where it may be adopted by a majority vote of the active members present and voting at the
regularly scheduled business meeting.

the next Annual session, where it may be adopted by a majority two-thirds vote of the active members present and
voting at the regularly scheduled business meeting.
