82nd Congress, Vienna
The annual meeting of the EOS
took place in Vienna from the

warm. Over 1,700 delegates
were in attendance to hear
outstanding keynote lectures
and oral presentations. The
postgraduate course given by
Bjørn
Zachrisson
and
sponsored
by

proved immensely popular and
was attended by over 260
participants. This was also the
case for the disco.

presented during the meeting:

problems with the EJO and that
the abstracts from the Vienna
Congress would be published

in four different geographic
areas of Europe. Council had
decided that the award for 2007
would be given to Dr Jaap
Maltha of The Netherlands to
In 1907 the EOS was founded
in Berlin by 10 ‘orthodontists’
and
in
2007
with
a
membership of over 3,000, we
will be returning to that city to
celebrate our centenary. This
will be a memorable event
organised by our President,
Rainer-Reginald
(Reggie)
Miethke. The congress venue
will be the Berlin Philharmonic
Hall. The DGKFO, under the
Presidency of Sabine Ruf, will
join with the EOS on this
occasion and will hold their
scientific session and business
meetings during the Congress.
The Sheldon Friel Memorial
Lecture will be given by Frans
van der Linden of The
2
Netherlands and the postgraduate course sponsored by
Dentaurum, will be given by
Sabine Ruf of Germany.
Vittorio Cacciafesta of Italy
will give a pre-congress course
on ‘Treatment of adult patients
with severely compromised
dentitions’ and Axel Bumann
of Germany the post-congress
course on ‘How much does the
temporomandibular joint affect
orthodontic treatment?’.
The topics for the Congress are:
What have we accomplished in
orthodontics in the last 100
years?; Failure, relapse and
retention; IT and CAD/CAM
and free topics.
The social programme will
include the Opening Ceremony
and Get-together cocktail, the
President’s
reception,
the
postgraduate disco and the
Congress Outing and Silver
Mill Competition. The dinner
will take place in a unique
atmosphere in the auto-mobile
museum Meilenwerk.
We are sure that you will not
want to miss such a memorable
occasion and we look forward
to seeing you in Berlin. For
