BLACK HOLES
By Kevin
DICTIONARY MEANING
Black Hole
noun
Astronomy . a theoretical massive object, formed at the beginning of the universe or by the
gravitational collapse of a star exploding as a supernova, whose gravitational field is so
intense that no electromagnetic radiation can escape.
MY TOPICS
1. What is Black Holes?
2. How do black holes form?
3. Why do some stars end up as black holes?
4. Can black holes grow ?
5. Could black holes be used as an energy source?
WHAT IS BLACK HOLES?
• Black hole is a very strong magnetic place that can
suck up anything that goes pass even light. Back hole
can also be described as a very big vacuum cleaner. It
is also invisible. No one knows what the black hole
looks like. There is also three types of black holes.
HOW DO BLACK HOLES FORM?
• When stars runs out of nuclear fuel it will collapse and
exploded. This is how the black hole is formed.
Massive type of black holes are produced by certain
dying stars. A star with a mass greater than the Sun 20
times.
WHY DO SOME STARS END UP AS BLACK
HOLES?
• However, when a star runs out of nuclear fuel and the
star continues to lose energy from the surface when the
star lose all the nuclear fuel then the gravity will win out
over internal pressure and the star. It will die slowly or
collapse quickly depending upon the structure of the
star. However, if the star is more massive than the size
of 3 to 5 suns it will most likely to become a black hole.
The process of this can take up to billions of years.

CAN BLACK HOLES GROW ?
• Yes it can. Once a black hole has formed, it can
continue to grow by absorbing energy and anything
with mass. It keeps on growing and black hole can
suck up the whole universe. The black hole will take
many decade to form a super massive black hole.
COULD BLACK HOLES BE USED AS AN ENERGY
SOURCE?
Brief a rotating black hole can store a huge amount of energy in its
rotation. This energy is actually accessible since the rotation is
imposed on the space outside the hole. In principle, therefore,
energy can be extracted from the rotation of the black hole but it is
impossible because the black hole will just suck you in.
