Go to amazon.com for the book or ebay… Course Description: This course is designed to provide an introduction to sociology. In this course you will discuss what sociology is, what sociologists do, and how sociologists view social-political-cultural issues. This course takes a particular interest in racial, social, and gender inequality. COURSE OVERVIEW Exams: There will be 4 exams administered in this course. The questions on the exams will be taken from the readings & lecture. Students are responsible for all of the materials covered in the lectures and the text. However, if the lecture notes do not include some of the information covered in the texts. Exams will consist of True/False & multiple choice questions. Four equally weighted exams will be administered this term. There will be no make-up test if you miss the exam on the scheduled test date unless arrangements have been made prior to the test date. If an alternate test date should become necessary, the test must be taken within 5 days of the originally scheduled date. Students will take all of the tests on the blackboard site. You will 3.5 hours to take the test. The test will shut down 2.5 hours after you begin your test. Extra Credit: If, at the end of the term, you are in between grades, your attendance at an academic talk will grant you the higher grade in the course.
