PowerScore SAT Math Bible Study Plan
The following one-month plan will help you prepare for the Math portion of the SAT using The PowerScore
SAT Math Bible and The Official SAT Study Guide. Students who have budgeted more time for study can
break this plan into smaller increments or take time off in between study days. For example, someone who has
two months to prepare can do half of each assignment below per day or he can take every other day off from
studying. If you have any questions during your studies, please do not hesitate to contact us at
[email protected].
Day 1:
• Read Chapter One: Introduction to the SAT (21 pages).
• Focus on “Rethinking the SAT” on pages 15-20.
• Exercise: Create 4 or 5 Power Thought Cards. Using index cards, write positive thinking mantras on each
one. For example, write “I am great at taking the SAT” and “I will do well on the SAT.” Hang these cards in
conspicuous places in your home and bedroom to help you start thinking positively about your abilities and
the test itself.
Day 2:
• Read Chapter Two: The Basics of SAT Math (21 pages).
• On page 44, record the main ideas from the chapter for later review.
• Exercise: Page through The Official SAT Study Guide (“The Blue Book”) and study the length and format
of the three math sections in a practice test.
• Exercise: Visit the SAT Math Bible website (www.powerscore.com/satmathbible) and look through the
Blue Book Database. These documents sort the questions in the Blue Book by subject area, content area,
and difficulty. Familiarize yourself with the Database.
Day 3:
• Read and complete Chapter Three: Operation Mastery (7 pages).
• Check your answers using the key at the end of the chapter. Highlight any of the questions you missed and
review their answers. You will return to these questions after completing the book.
Day 4:
• Read and complete pages 61-85 of Chapter Four: Solution Strategies (24 pages).
• Check your answers using the answer key at the end of the chapter. Highlight any of the questions that you
missed and review their answers. You will return to these questions after completing the book.
Day 5:
• Read and complete pages 86-106 of Chapter Four: Solution Strategies (20 pages).
• Check your answers using the answer key at the end of the chapter. Highlight any of the questions that you
missed and review their answers. You will return to these questions after completing the book.
• Exercise: Print the SAT Math Flash Cards from the SAT Math Bible website.

• Exercise: Visit the Arithmetic Section of The Blue Book Database. Complete all problems for Number
Properties, Remainders, Fractions and Decimals, and Percentages from the Blue Book that occur on pages
379-555. These are the problems from the first three practice tests in the Blue Book. Do not complete the
problems that occur after page 555 because you are saving these sections for timed practice sets.
Day 7:

called. Then finish the remainder of the section untimed. Check your answers and review any questions you
missed or answers you correctly guessed. It is imperative that you understand why you struggled with a
question. You can compute your Math score using pages 621-623. Be sure to only count the questions you
completed before time was called. NOTE: For any of the exercises involving timed sections from the Blue
Book, some highly motivated students might consider taking a Full-Length Practice Test, which includes the
Reading and Writing sections. This will help improve stamina and give a more accurate view of a real
testing situation.
