From the patient's echocardiogram, obtained following cardiac resynchronization therapy, a tissue Doppler tracing from the septal mitral annulus is shown.
Based on the measured intervals of isovolumic relaxation time (IVRT), isovolumic contraction time (IVCT), and left ventricular ejection time (LVET), the Tei
index [(IVRT + IVCT)/LVET] is calculated to be 0.31. The Tei index decreased from 0.9, calculated prior to cardiac resynchronization therapy, and
represents improved left ventricular synchrony.
