6 MONTH SMILES
The Six Month Smiles are fixed braces that consist of small clear brackets and
tooth coloured wires.
It is a fairly discreet type of brace which is adjusted every 4 or 5 weeks until the end
of your treatment period. Six Month Smiles uses Patient Tray Kits™ to ensure your
appointments are fast and comfortable. Over the period of a few months, the custom
designed braces gently push the teeth into the correct position. Final results can be
achieved in 6 months. This gives patients a fast and cosmetic solution that fits your
lifestyle.
*Most patients take 6 months to complete treatment however treatment times can vary
from 4 to 9 months

Q: How are Six Month Smiles braces more comfortable than regular braces?
A: Six Month Smiles uses low force to move teeth gently. Many people think that the
accelerated braces treatment means simply “tightening” regular braces to get the teeth
moving, but that is not true. Six Month Smiles utilises standard orthodontic mechanics,
but with an emphasis on the cosmetic appearance of your teeth rather than the position

Q: Do Six Month Smiles braces damage the teeth, roots, or gums?
A: There are no more risks of root damage or other issues than those associated with
traditional orthodontics. Since the forces used with Six Month Smiles braces are lighter

Q: Will I have to wear a retainer?
A: Yes, as with any teeth-straightening treatment a retainer is necessary to maintain the

Clear Smile Aligner is a smooth and contemporary treatment for correcting the
positioning of your teeth.
The aligners resemble mouth guards but are transparent and smooth, without any
screws or brackets meaning that people will hardly notice you wearing them. You will be
able to talk and laugh as normal without impediment. Simply take them out to eat or to
clean them and your teeth.

Q: What is the Clear Smile Aligner system?
A: Clear Smile Aligner is a system of transparent aligners used to correct improperly
positioned teeth. Unlike metallic braces, these practically invisible aligners can be
removed at any time. Treatment with Clear Smile Aligner is almost completely painless
because it uses very small amounts of pressure to gently and progressively correct dental
misalignment. Clear Smile Aligner are manufactured from lightweight transparent
materials custom made for each patient, making them very comfortable.
Q: How does Clear Smile Aligners straighten teeth?
A: Clear Smile Aligner system is designed for minor teeth movement. You, the patient
are required to wear the custom-made aligners for 22 hours a day each day and at each
stage of the treatment. Each stage takes about 6 weeks, helping to move your teeth
gradually into the desired position.
Q: How long does treatment with Clear Smile Aligner take?
A: As with metallic braces, Clear Smile Aligner aligners may take more or less time to

Joined the practice when it first opened in January 2005 having also
qualified from Dundee University in 1993. Julie worked in Canada for
6 years obtaining a pass in the Canadian Dental Board Exam in 2004
before returning to Aberdeen. Julie enjoys all aspects of dentistry
with a special interest in cosmetic dentistry with particular satisfaction
from seeing the results. She has undergone cosmetic orthodontic
courses in Six Month Smile, Clear Smile Aligner and Inman Aligner.
Mohammad Sarris (BDS) GDC No. 85611
Mohammad graduated from the University of Dundee in 2005 and
is currently completing his final year MSc in Aesthetic and Restorative
Dentistry at the University of Manchester. He has been working
in private practice setting since 2007. Mohammad is a certified
practitioner of Six Month Smiles, Clear Smile Aligner and Inman
Aligner and takes great pleasure in using these simple orthodontic
