Trousdale County Schools Focused Lesson Plan 2015-16 Teacher: Humes Unit Name: Geometric Proof Unit #: 5 Unit Length: 3 weeks Week: 1/5 – 1/8 Week 1 of 3 Subject: Core Math II Tennessee State Standard(s) to be taught: (Write the entire standard) G-CO.9 – Prove theorems about lines and angles. Theorems include: vertical angles are congruent; when a transversal crosses parallel lines, alternate interior angles are congruent and corresponding angles are congruent; points on a perpendicular bisector of a line segment are exactly those equidistant from the segment’s endpoints. G-CO.10 – Prove theorems about triangles. Theorems include: measures of interior angles of a triangle sum to 180°; base angles of isosceles triangles are congruent; the segment joining midpoints of two sides of a triangle is parallel to the third side and half the length; the medians of a triangle meet at a point. G.SRT.5 – Use congruence and similarity criteria for triangles to solve problems and to prove relationships in geometric figures, I Can Statements : I can identify and define vertical angles, linear pairs, adjacent angles, complementary angles, and supplementary angles. I can identify angle pairs formed by a transversal crossing parallel lines. I can find the measures of angles by using theorems about lines and angles. I can prove that two lines are parallel by using theorems about angles and parallel lines. Accommodations for students, both regular and special populations : Extra practice time may be given using InteractMath technology online. One-on-one and/or peer tutoring. Re-take quizzes on which students perform poorly.
