Sodium chloride, also known as table salt, occurs in nature as the mineral halite. It is produced by mining,

by evaporation of brine from underground salt deposits and from sea water by1 solar evaporation. Natural
salt is the source of chlorine and of sodium as well as most their compounds. Sodium chloride is used for
preserving food, manufacturing soap, to salt out dyes, in freezing mixtures, for dying and print fabrics, glazing

pottery, curing hides and metallurgy of tin and other metals. Salt is an essential nutrient factor.
Solubility:
Soluble in water (360 g/l @ 20ºC) and glycerol. Very slightly soluble in alcohol..
Storage:
Hygroscopic, store away from moisture.
