Dear XXXXX,
Providing you with the right, high-quality clinical information you need is our central focus. We
know that this kind of information, when delivered quickly, can help you effectively care for your
patients. That’s why we recently acquired a Siemens Symbia® [Evo or Excel] SPECT imaging
system.
How our SPECT system can impact your practice
With this Symbia SPECT system, we can deliver industry-leading1 image quality to you and your
patients. With better, higher quality images you have more clinical information to improve
diagnostic confidence. This can potentially reduce the need for additional imaging studies and
readmissions for your patients.
Why patients tend to prefer this SPECT system
This Symbia SPECT system offers a 30% larger bore, which can be more comfortable for
patients who experience anxiety during conventional SPECT imaging. In addition, the system
can handle patients up to 500 lbs, so we can image your large and/or obese patients with ease.
And, thanks to the system’s flexible design, we can also eliminate patient transfers to the
system table—which can be extremely helpful when imaging patients with mobility issues,
including those who are critically ill and unable to move, as well as complex cases like GI bleeds
or hepatobiliary cases.
For more information about this innovative new system and how it may help your patients,
please contact us at [phone number] or visit [siemens website address?].
Best wishes,

Did your doctor request a SPECT exam?
Here’s what you need to know before your appointment.
[facility logo]
What is a SPECT exam?
A Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography or SPECT exam is a type of medical imaging
that shows biological functions and detailed anatomical structures together. You can think of it
like an X-ray, except an X-ray gives us a picture of the structures in your body. A SPECT image
tells us how your organs and tissue function.
Why is it used?
A SPECT exam is often requested to obtain more information about potential brain, heart, or
bone problems. At our facility, we have a Siemens Symbia® [Evo or Evo Excel], which offers
industry-leading image quality. Because the image quality of our system is so high, your
physicians can obtain more clinical information than previous SPECT systems to provide a more
accurate picture about your health.
Is it safe?
SPECT scans use invisible beams of ionizing radiation that pass through the body to create an
image. At our facility, we are dedicated to the highest levels of patient safety—which is why our
healthcare team selected technology that uses very low doses of radiation while maintaining
excellent image quality.
How do I prepare for my exam?
Check with your doctor to find out if you need any particular preparation before the exam. In
general, you should leave metallic jewelry at home and inform the technologist if you are
pregnant or breast feeding.
What will happen at my appointment?
You’ll be asked to change into a gown and then you will lie down on a patient table. The
SPECT system is shaped like a large doughnut and the center of it is called the gantry. The
patient table will move slowly through the gantry. Once you are on the table, the technologist will
help you get into the correct position. The technologist may ask you to hold your breath during
the exam, and you’ll hear a low whirring sound as the exam takes place. It’s very important that
you try not to move during the exam.
Your SPECT Exam Checklist
 Remove all metal objects, such as a belt or jewelry.
 Bring images from previous examination (including X-rays) with you.
 Ask your physician if your examination requires contrast. If it does, find out how many
hours you will need to fast before the examination.
 Let your physician know if you have had previous allergic reactions.
