Grade 6 Drama: Elements of Tableau
The following compositional parts contribute to an effective tableau:
•
Character – focus, eye contact, strong body position showing what
character is thinking and feeling.
•
Space –positioning in relationship to others, connected, disconnected.
•
Gesture –body shapes (open, closed, balanced, off-balance)
•
Communication - facial expressions, body language
•
Levels – high, medium, low
•
Meaning – each character contributes to the overall message or meaning
of the tableau
There can be more than one interpretation of a tableau.
Have characters step out of the tableau to view the rest of it in action and make
meaning in and out of role.
