Staff Giving – Every Penny Counts
John van Geest Cancer Research Centre
About us
Did you know that Nottingham Trent University is home to a world-class cancer
research facility? The John van Geest Cancer Research Centre is situated on the
Clifton campus near the Lee Westwood Sports Centre.
Our scientists aim to save lives and speed
recovery by improving the early diagnosis
and treatment of breast and prostate cancer.
They work closely with local patient groups
and leading clinical staff at local hospitals.
You can read more at:
www.ntu.ac.uk/vangeest
With research suggesting that over 1 in 3 of
us are likely to be diagnosed with some form
of cancer at some point in our lifetime, this
is clearly work which will have an impact on
us all.
How can you help?
It’s easy. We want your pennies – literally!
Through our new scheme Every Penny Counts
the lovely staff in our payroll team have the
ability to round your pay down to the closest
pound and donate those spare pennies to
the work of the John van Geest Cancer
Research Centre.
For example, if you are paid £1,234.56 per
month after tax and deductions, as a
member of the scheme our payroll team
would deduct 56p from your wages –
meaning you are paid £1,234.00 and 56p
goes straight to the work of the centre.
Pounds Count Too
Pennies adding up to just
£5 over the year can buy
a nutrient solution which
keeps cancer cells alive for
further study.
Pennies adding up to £10
are enough to sequence
a gene – enabling the
scientists to investigate
how genetics affect the
development of cancer.
This is certainly true, and this scheme allows
you to easily give a few pounds a month
extra to this vital work.
You are free to join or leave either scheme at
any time, so why not make a difference by
filling the attached form out today?
