Abstract: An important property of the Kronecker canonical form
for matrix pencils is that it immediately reveals the spectral and
singular structure (i.e., the elementary divisors and minimal indices)
of the pencil. Is there any analogous structure-revealing condensed
form for general matrix polynomials of degree greater than one?
This talk will discuss the current status of our work towards
developing such a condensed form.
