Midland Cancer Network CFA annual report that includes indicators
submitted to Ministry of Health 20 September 2012.
NZ DHB lung cancer standards stock take and gap analysis report
submitted to last CPSG meeting.
NZ Breast Cancer Work Group had first meeting September to review first
draft of national standards. Quarter report submitted to Ministry of Health
10 October 2012.
Midland Radiation Oncology Demand and Capacity Modelling 2012-13
endorsed by Midland COOs and GM P & F and due to Midland CE Oct.
Midland Faster Cancer Treatment Implementation Plan due to Midland CE
Oct. meeting for endorsement to enable Ministry funds to be released.
Note delays with Ministry service specification contract to region.
Midland Cancer MDM Action Plan 2012-14 endorsed by Midland GM P&F
in September.
Facilitated the development of the Waikato DHB change to model of
service for adult specialist palliative consultation document – out for
consultation October.
Proposed new regional model of service for Palliative Medicine Advanced
Training submitted to Midland GMs P & F (endorsed Sept) and Midland
COOs (awaiting response).
AV upgrade Rotorua and Waikato hospitals completed August.
HD VC equipment for cancer MDMs approved and equipment ordered
Tairawhiti transition plan progressing well, Waikato Cancer Society
purchased 2 bedroom apartments for community accommodation, clinical
meeting with MidCentral Waikato and TDH to agree patient transition plan,
Waikato Clinical Director visit to TDH occurred in September.
Tairawhiti joined Midland Cancer Network effective 1 July 2013
Dr Humphrey Pullon appointed as MCN Clinical Director commences 1
October 2012 (limited capacity until replacement resource appointed).
Lakes and MCN participated in the NCN HRC Lung Cancer research, the
report has been released and findings are to be presented at Lakes in Oct.

 Teleconference with various DHBs and Ministry of Health regarding
collection of 21 core data items. Our database will collect these items and
more and able to compare across country at a later date if needed. The
core items are not mandatory collection items as yet
