Mining
The Bruker S1 TITAN Handheld Mining Analyzer is a fast and accurate tool for all aspects of mining. Compared to
laboratory analysis, the ability to make on-site geochemical analysis of mine face and drill cores boosts productivity by
reducing the turnaround time from days to minutes. The S1 TITAN’s real-time surveys quickly define ore boundaries and
identify areas of highest potential profit. Prepared samples can be measured in the field to achieve higher accuracy.
The Bruker X-Flash® Silicon Drift Detector (SDD) is the key to superior operation, as it offers higher count rates and
resolution to the traditional SiPIN detectors. In addition, the SDD provides the ability to measure light elements like
magnesium, aluminum, silicon and sulfur without the need for vacuum or helium purge. Light element analysis allows a
much more complete understanding of most mineral based deposits, as well as a better understanding of the mineralogy.
In addition, light element analysis is critical to the measurement of industrial minerals such as cement and limestone.

Benefits:
• Light Weight analyzer
• Rapid Analysis
• GPS Integration
• On-site calibration correction
• Ease of use
•
On-site exploration
The light portable nature of the S1 TITAN allows it to be
used in the field to survey locations of potential mines
directly as well as measuring drill cores to determine
the depth profiles of the deposits.
•
Mine analysis
Once a mine site has been discovered the S1 TITAN
provides the ability to quickly analyze the deposit.
•
Mine control
Once the mine has been mapped and production has
begun, the S1 TITAN can provide detailed information
on the levels of ore in each truck load to allow better
control of the flow of ore to the processing plant.
•
Process and Concentrate analysis
During ore processing the S1 TITAN can determine the
concentrations of the sample.
•
Restoration and Reclamation
At the end of mine operation the S1 TITAN can be used
in analysis of tailings and help in restoration of the land.
Mapping
An essential part of exploration and mine analysis is the
correlation of the analysis with the exact location of the
measurements. When paired with a BluetoothTM enabled
GPS (e.g. TRIMBLE NOMAD®), the S1 TITAN can store the
exact latitude, longitude and altitude of each measurement.
The data, stored in ASCII format, can then be readily
imported into any GIS or site-mapping application. These
coordinates can be downloaded to your PC and imported
into a mine mapping program.

Easy to Use
The S1 TITAN is among the lightest portable tube-based
XRF analyzer available on the market today. The user
interface has been designed to provide intuitive operation
and results presentation. Data management and transfer
are exceedingly easy to use. The data can be stored in a
protected data format, which cannot be modified, or an
unprotected format, which allows simple modification.

The S1 TITANLE is the premium
configuration which is designed
using the X-Flash® SDD with a
Ultralene® measurement window.
The SDD operates at very high
count rates and thus provides good
precision at short measurement
times. In addition the S1 TITANLE
will measure light elements such as
magnesium, aluminum, silicon, sulfur
and potassium. Measurement of the
light elements (Mg to K) improves the
accuracy of Fundamental Parameter
based
calibrations
(GeoChem
General). The S1 TITANLE is the most
suitable configuration for Geochemical
analysis.
The S1 TITANSE is the standard
configuration which is designed using
the X-Flash® SDD with a rugged
aluminized Kapton® measurement
window. The SDD operates at very
high count rates and thus provides
good precision at short measurement
times. The lightest element measured
by this configuration is calcium. This
configuration is also suitable for soil
(restricted materials) and EPA 6200
compliant measurements, as well as
the analysis of geological materials
and ores where no light element
information is required.
The S1 TITANSP is the value
configuration based on the traditional
SiPIN detector with a rugged aluminized
Kapton® measurement window. The
SiPIN detector is an excellent choice
when light element detection is not
required. Acceptable precision and
accuracy can be achieved using this
configuration, though slightly longer
measurement times are required. The
S1TITANSP is the value based version
of the TITAN and should be chosen
for routine measurements where light
element analysis is not required.
