MATH 1420 - Test #6
ADDITIONAL PRACTICE USING THE INVERSE TRIGONOMETRIC KEYS ON YOUR CALCULATOR
If the measures of two sides of a right triangle are known, the measures of the two acute angles can be found
using the inverse trigonometric keys on your calculator.
Example:
Suppose sin A = 0.8562. Find the measure of the angle A.
Press 2nd , sin, 0.8562, then Enter, and your answer will be 58.9 which can be rounded to 59 degrees.
Many calculators give you the result by pressing 0.8562, 2nd , then sin.
Practice
1. tan A = 0.752. Find the measure of the angle A.
2. tan A = 1.8. Find the measure of the angle A.
3. cos A = 0.82727. Find the measure of the angle A.
4. cos A = 0.3333. Find the measure of the angle A.
5. sin A = 0.34. Find the measure of the angle A.
6. sin A = .532 Find the measure of the angle A.
