TXN TI wasn’t always in the semiconductor business. We started out as a small oil and gas company in 1930, then focused on defense systems electronics in the late 1940s. With the invention of the integrated circuit in 1958, TI entered the semiconductor business, devising microprocessors in the 1970s and digital signal processors in the 1980s. On their website, TXN states claims that they are changing the world, one chip at a time. HISTORY OF INTEL CORP Intel Corporation was founded on July 18, 1968, by semiconductor pioneers Robert Noyce and Gordon Moore. They previously worked at Fairchild Semiconductor but left to establish Intel. There was a third original employee named Andy Grove and he also came from Fairchild. Grove became Intel’s president in 1979, CEO in 1987, and its Chairman and CEO in 1997. He is the man that is credited with redirecting Intel from producing memory chips to becoming one of the world’s largest producers of microprocessors. It is based in Santa Clara, California, and is the world’s largest semiconductor company and also happens to be the inventor of x86 series of microprocessors, which are in most personal computers.
