History of Texas Instruments Inc. TXN

TI wasn’t always in the semiconductor business. We started out as a small
oil and gas company in 1930, then focused on defense systems
electronics in the late 1940s. With the invention of the integrated circuit in
1958, TI entered the semiconductor business, devising microprocessors in
the 1970s and digital signal processors in the 1980s.

On their website, TXN states claims that they are changing the world, one
chip at a time. Our analog and embedded processing products power
electronics across every industry and help to make the world smarter,
safer, greener, healthier and more fun.

They officially become Texas Instruments Incorporated, entering the
semiconductor industry by inventing the silicon transistor in 1954.
HISTORY OF INTEL CORP

Intel Corporation was founded on July 18, 1968, by semiconductor pioneers
Robert Noyce and Gordon Moore. They previously worked at Fairchild
Semiconductor but left to establish Intel. There was a third original employee
named Andy Grove and he also came from Fairchild. Grove became Intel’s
president in 1979, CEO in 1987, and its Chairman and CEO in 1997. He is the
man that is credited with redirecting Intel from producing memory chips to
becoming one of the world’s largest producers of microprocessors. It is based
in Santa Clara, California, and is the world’s largest semiconductor company
and also happens to be the inventor of x86 series of microprocessors, which
are in most personal computers.

Intel Corporation also makes motherboard chipsets, network cards and ICs,
flash memory, graphics chips, embedded processors, and other devices
related to communications and computing.
