SPEAKING
IMPORTANT?
We have to be able to produce
the sounds of the language
in
comprehensible way.
In conversation,
we need to know how to make our
contributions fit in
smoothly
and
appropriately.
We need an
adequate
vocabulary.
We need to know
to put words together
grammatically.
We need to know what is
appropriate
and
inappropriate…
in terms of
what to say
and
how to say it…
according to
the situation
we are in
and
the person
to whom we are
speaking.
SPEAKING ACTIVITIES
Tongue Twister
She sells sea shells by the
sea shore.
EXAMPLE



Kitty caught the kitten in the kitchen.
Fresh fried fish, fish fresh fried, fried
fish fresh, fish fried fresh.
A big black bug bit a big black dog
on his big black nose.
Ball Passing
 Teacher passes a ball to one student, and ask he or her a
question. If the student can answer it, he or she can get one
point and pass the ball to whoever he or she want. (Don’t ask
the question which student can only answer yes or no.)
 Teacher says a sentence as a story beginning , passing the ball
to one student. The student have to make one sentence to
connect what teacher says, making the story longer.
EXAMPLE


Teacher: ‘ How many members in your family?’
Student 1: ‘There are four people in my family’
→‘Try to describe your best friend.’
Teacher: ‘Joyce goes to a toy store.’
Student 1: ‘She meet Cindy on the street.’
Student 2: ‘They decide to go to lunch.’
Detective Game


Teacher designs and lists 50 descriptions on the
papers. Every student will have a paper. They have
to ask their classmate the questions, and look for
the person who match the description, asking he or
she to sign name on the paper.
The person who has the most signatures on the
paper in 10 minutes can be the winner.
