A function is an equation usually written

There are three different functions you
need to know:
Linear
Quadratic
Exponential

Linear: a linear equation either in
standard form or slope-intercept form
◦ Only has one x in equation (not squared)

Quadratic: a function that has an x2
value
◦ The graph will create a loop up or down

Exponential: where the exponent is a
variable
◦ Ex: 3x

You’re going to have to determine if an
equation is linear, quadratic, or
exponential two ways
◦ The first way is by looking at a graph
◦ The second way in with a chart

