Ephesians 6:11-17
πανοπλία
Ephesians 4:1-3
I therefore, the prisoner of the
Lord, beseech you that ye walk
worthy of the vocation wherewith
ye are called, 2With all lowliness
and meekness, with longsuffering,
forbearing one another in love;
3Endeavouring to keep the unity of
the Spirit in the bond of peace.
We are strong only in the
Lord and in the power of
His might
•Ephesians 6:10
Need to have on the
whole armor, not just the
pieces we want
•Ephesians 6:11
Fight not against people,
but against spiritual
wickedness in high places
•Ephesians 6:12
Must put on the armor,
and we must stand –our
job to take initiative
•Ephesians 6:11,14
Thayer’s Greek Lexicon
In the broad sense, the
state of him who is such
as he ought to be,
righteousness … the
condition acceptable to
God … universally: the
doctrine concerning the
way in which man may
attain to a state approved
of God … integrity, virtue,
purity of life, uprightness,
correctness in thinking,
feeling, and acting …
Purity of heart and rectitude of
life; conformity of heart and life
to the divine law.
Righteousness, as used in
Scripture and theology, in
which it is chiefly used, is
nearly equivalent to holiness,
comprehending holy principles
and affections of heart, and
conformity of life to the divine
law. It includes all we call
justice, honesty and virtue,
with holy affections; in short, it
is true religion.
Webster’s 1828
English Dictionary
The act of doing what God
requires - 'righteousness,
doing what God requires,
doing what is right.'
