
The planet
experiences storms
that can grow to
thousands of

diameter in the space
of a few hours. The
planet also
experiences
windstorms,
lightning, and auroras
in some areas.

are

surrounding
Jupiter while only
4 can be seen by
telescope.


Jupiter is called after
the ancient Roman
sky-god, Jupiter,
known to the Greeks
as Zeus.
The first person to
discover and observe
Jupiter’s moons
was Galileo (15641642).



Red Spot. It is located
at the bottom of the
planet.
It was first discovered
by Robert Hooke in
1664
