Graphing Inequalities
Each inequality sign is graphed differently. What is
important to remember is always to write the variable
first. If it doesn’t come first, then switch it. For
example…
3 < x is the same as x > 3
Graphing Inequalities
> Empty circle shaded to the right.
< Empty circle shaded to the left.
≤ Full circle shaded to the left.
≥ Full circle shaded to the right.
Examples:
Graph 1: x ≤ 1
Graph 2: x > -5
Graph 3: x < 3
Graph 4: x ≥ 4
Practice
1. A number is less than negative three.
n < -3
2. A number is at least negative two.
n ≥ -2
3. Two is more than a number.
