Status of Offline Software Ziyan Deng On behalf of the offline software working group 2016-09 BESIII Physics and Software Workshop, IHEP Software releases BOSS7.0.0 released last Dec. for data taking this year Used for offline calibration and fast reconstruction BOSS7.0.1 released in July MRPC updates, dE/dx improvements, other bug fixes ~ 1/fb data reconstructed before Mar. 25, machine study (requested by the Charm group for CHARM16) Tested by CHARM group, see Hajime and Shuai’s talks No MC tuning, please do not use it to produce MC Release plan BOSS7.0.2 will be released at the end of September MRPC updates (Shengsen) and MC tuning (Fenfen) EMC improvements (Chunxiu) Generators (Ronggang, Hajime) New calibration constants are ready dE/dx calibration constants (Jinfa, Jake, Kai) new MRPC calibration constants (Shengsen) new MUC calibration constants(Lianjin) New MC tuning constants are ready dE/dx (Jinfa, Jake, Kai) MRPC (Fenfen) time-consuming task TOF Reconstruction and Calibration The calibration of the difference between four collisions in one trigger cycle is added into TOF calibration algorithm. The average of measured times of two ends is used as combined measured time of one strip instead of 7-term calibration formula’s result. The calibration of data of 2016 have been finished and will be used in next boss release 7.0.2. Boss701 60ps Boss701a 57ps Benefit from the decrease of bunch length, best time resolution of endcap TOF achieved as 51ps. MRPC Simulation Status The new digitization method has been established for MRPC simulation. MRPC simulation package and calibration constants are ready for new BOSS Release MC tuning method has been investigated. After tuning, Bhabha events shows good consistency of time resolution and efficiency between data and MC (<1% in most aspects) Hadron samples are expected for further tuning MRPC Efficiency of MC & Data BesEvtGen • Phokhara is available in BesEvtGen, based on its fortran version 7.0 Table: List of hadronic phokhara modes and their models in BesEvtGen • How to use PHOKHARA model in BesEvtGen, e.g. noPhotos Particle vpho 3.65 0 Decay vpho 1 PHOKHARA_pipi; Enddecay End Note • noPhotos: FSR has been considered in PHOKHARA, so switch off this option • “Particle” define the Ecms=3.65 GeV. • Cite model in the form: BranchingFraction followed by the model name PHOKHARA_pipi. BesEvtGen • ConExc model is updated allow user to generate the light hadron events for R-value measurement with PHOKHARA modes allow user to generate muti-mode decays, e.g. open charm decays. • Parameters of Lund Area Low model above DD-bar threshold are optimized and fixed in this version • ConExc model is ready for the 4.18 GeV MC production , see Hajime’s talk. Update of TOF energy [email protected] • TOF energy calibConst:CTOF=energy_exp/Q by using dimu events. • For data, TOF Q will change because of scintillator aging or adjusting high-voltage • For MC , TOF Q will change with the different TofSimConst in the different run-regions. • So @Boss7.0.1, update TOF energy calibrations which are different for the different run-regions. Update of EMC shower energy correction The update of TOF energy calibration @Boss7.0.1 certainly causes the change of TOF energy reconstruction. EMC shower energy correction is based on (E5x5+ TOF energy) . So, need to update the parameters of EMC shower energy correction. EMC Shower Energy correction • Update MC correction by using MC single with 53 energy points from 20MeV to 2.3GeV EmcRec Dst AbsCor Ana two cases: MC single (1) E =(E5x5/cor)/pi0cor (2) E =(E5x5+etof) /cor/pi0cor For MC pi0cor=1; For data pi0cor obtained by pi0 Calibration Eshower/Ein versus Ein p0 calibration for data • To calibrate the data pi0 peak to MC peak. • Update the pi0 correction function: lnEcor = a0 + a1 lnE + a2 ln2E + a3ln3E @7.0.1.a NouseTofenergy @7.0.1.a useTofenergy EMC shower energy correction are updated @7.0.1.a p0 mass and resolution versus p0 momentum @7.0.1.a No 4cfit 4c fit p0 mass p0 mass 4c fit No 4cfit p0 Mass resolution p0 Mass resolution • In the different p0 momentum region, data and MC of p0 mass and resolution are consistent. • The reconstruction efficiency still need to study. Muon calibration nHits Calibration with Dimu data from June 2016 The box efficiency and noise level of MUC are similar as before. Muon calibration — Spatial resolution for Barrel is about 28.1 mm. — Spatial resolution for Endcap is about 33.7 mm. Spatial resolution for Barrel and spatial resolution for Endcap are similar as before. dE/dx New calibration and MC tuning constants are ready • For this year’s 4.18 GeV data, will be released with BOSS 7.0.2. data MC Similar qualities as before. In progress (see Meng’s talk for details) • Work in MC simulation to improve Data/MC consistency. Hopefully to appear in next release. Data production plan All data taken this year will be fully reconstructed with BOSS7.0.2 From Oct. 1st to Oct. 15 MC data production with BOSS7.0.2 Charm group will use reconstructed data to re-calibrate the beam energy, it’s better to generate MC samples when it’s done. Software work in progress dE/dx simulation (Meng, Guang, Kai) Data/MC consistency will be improved Hopefully to appear in next release Hough tracking (Jin, Yao) Focus on low momentum tracks Need more checks on real data CGEM software (Liangliang, Linghui, Lia) Geometry updates Digitization based on test beam results Summary 7.0.2 will be released soon • Phokhara is available in BesEvtGen • TOF calibration updated, and the calibration of data of 2016 have been finished and will be used in next BOSS release 7.0.2 • EMC shower energy correction updated • MUC calibration constants updated for new data, no obvious change for MUC performance • dE/dx calibration and MC tuning constants are ready All data taken this year will be reconstructed with 7.0.2 7.0.2 The new release is being tested, some data reconstructed and some MC samples generated The software group are checking the release at the low level The Charm group are comparing data and MC, different generators signal yields, etc. Hopefully the new version will be released as expected (at the end of September),if no severe problem is found
