SOCIAL WELLNESS: LECTURE 2 Social Wellness is very important to our overall health. A person who is socially healthy has the skills to socialise, be confident and function in all situations that involve other people. It involves: Good communication skills Having meaningful relationships Respecting yourself and others Creating a support system Signs of Social Wellness: Part 1 Development of assertiveness skills not passive or aggressive ones. Balancing social and personal time. The ability to be who you are in all situations. Becoming engaged with other people in your community. Valuing diversity and treat others with respect. Impact of Social Isolation: Part 1 Generally decreased feeling of less energy and feeling tired more often. Greater likelihood of chronic illness such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, etc. More frequent bouts of sickness, such as colds or flu, and longer recovery times.
