important to understand the functions of
ingredients.
What is the function of:
Flour
Flour––gives a muffin bulk and
helps to make the cake rise when it
is cooked.
Margarine/butter
Margarine/butter– shortens and
flavours the muffin.
Eggs
Eggs– –add flavour/colour and also
helps to make the muffin light in
texture.
Sugar
Sugar– –help make the muffin softer
in texture and flavours the muffin.
These food ingredients are usually
used to make a muffin.

important to understand the functions of
ingredients.
What is the function of:
Flour – Thickening agent. If the
liquid is too runny flour will add
bulk and thicken the sauce.
Stock cube and water –Needed to
add liquid to the soup it also
provides flavour.
These food ingredients are usually
used to make a soup .
To adapt this recipe and make a stew you could
chop the vegetables large slow cook for longer.
You could add protein to this dish. Dice and fry
chicken or beef in oil.
