Thematic module 1.
Differential diagnosis of infectious diseases with exanthema, respiratory infections and
neuroinfections in children. Emergency states in children's respiratory infectious diseases
and neuroinfections.
Specific aims:
 Identify the different clinical forms and the most common complications of infectious
diseases with exanthema syndrome, children’s respiratory infections and neuroinfections
in different ages.
 Identify the tactics of treatment for the patients with the most common infectious diseases
with exanthema syndrome, respiratory infections and neuroinfections in children.
 Demonstrate the ability to manage of medical documents of children suffering from
infectious diseases with exanthema, respiratory infections and neuroinfections
 Planning of examination of the sick child and interpret results of the most common
infectious diseases with exanthema syndrome, respiratory infections and neuroinfections
in children
 To conduct the differential diagnosis and previous clinical diagnosis of the most common
infectious diseases with exanthema, respiratory infections and neuroinfections in children
 Diagnose and provide emergency assistance during emergency conditions caused by
respiratory infections and neuroinfections in children.
Theme 1. Differential diagnosis of infections with exanthema syndrome in
children.
Leading clinical symptoms and variants of clinical course of infections with exanthema
syndrome (measles, rubella, chicken pox, scarlet fever, pseudotuberculosis). Differential
diagnosis of exanthema syndrome in various infectious and noninfectious diseases. Tactic of
treatment, organization of preventive measures in foci of infection in diseases with exanthema
syndrome.
Theme 2. Differential diagnosis and urgent conditions in children's respiratory
infections.
Leading clinical symptoms and variants of clinical course in children's respiratory infections
(diphtheria, infectious mononucleosis, mumps infection, whooping cough). Differential
diagnosis of different forms of respiratory infections in children. Differential diagnosis of
syndromes of sore throats and croup in various infectious and noninfectious diseases. Treatment
tactics for the patient with the croup syndrome. Emergency assistance in croup syndrome.
Peculiarities of apnea clinical form in whooping cough in children. Teatment tactic for patients
with pertussis in order to prevent apnea. Emergency assistance in respiratory arrest in patients
with whooping cough. Organization of preventive measures in foci of infection in childhood
respiratory infections.
Theme 3. Differential diagnosis of neuroinfections in children.
Leading clinical symptoms and variants of clinical course of meningococcal disease.
Meningococcemia. Differential diagnosis of diseases accompanied by haemorrhagic rash
(hemorrhagic vasculitis, thrombocytopenic purpura etc.). Leading clinical symptoms of bacterial
and viral meningitis, their complications and differential diagnosis. Clinical and laboratory
characteristics of primary and secondary encephalitis, their complications and differential
diagnosis. Treatment tactic for patients with meningitis and encephalitis.
Theme 4. Emergency states in neuroinfections in children. Diagnosis and
treatment.
Leading clinical symptoms of infectious-toxic shock (ITSH) with meningococcal infection and
edema-swelling of the brain (ESB) in neuroinfections in children. Tactic for patients and
emergency assistance in ITSH and ESB.
Thematic module 2.
Differential diagnosis of acute intestinal infections (AII) and viral hepatitis (VH) in
children. Emergency states in AII and viral hepatitis.
Specific aims:
 Identify the different clinical forms and course of viral hepatitis and AII in different age
groups of children.
 Identify the treatment tactic in AII and viral hepatitis in children.
 Demonstrate the ability to manage of medical documents of children suffering from viral
hepatitis and AII.
 Planning of examination of the sick child and interpret results of researches in AII and
VH.
 To conduct the differential diagnosis and previous clinical diagnosis of AII and VH
 Diagnose and provide emergency assistance during emergency conditions caused by AEI
syndrome, toxicosis-eksicosis, neurotoxicosis
 Diagnose and provide emergency assistance in acute liver failure caused by viral
hepatitis.
Theme 5. Differential diagnosis of AII in children.
Leading clinical symptoms and syndromes of AII: local (gastritis, enteritis, colitis) and general
(toxicosis, eksikosis, neurotoxicosis, toxicoseptic state). Variants of clinical course in shigellosis,
salmonellosis, E.coli-infection, intestinal yersiniosis, viral diarrhea in children of different ages.
Differential diagnosis between the AII and non-infectional diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.
Tactic of children with AII (examination, indications for hospitalization, treatment).
Antiepidemic measures in the foci of infection.
Theme 6. Emergency states at AII in children. Diagnosis and treatment.
Leading clinical symptoms of toxico-eksicosis, neurotoxicosis at AII in children. Data of
laboratory and instrumental investigations at syndrome of toxico-eksicosis and neurotoxicosis.
Tactics general practitioners in diagnosing emergency conditions at AII in children, providing
emergency assistance.
Theme 7. Differential diagnosis and urgent states at viral hepatitis (VH) in
children.
Leading clinical symptoms, laboratory data and instrumental studies at different clinical forms in
depending on the causative agent of viral hepatitis. Differential diagnosis of typical and atypical
forms of viral hepatitis in children. Treatment tactic for patients with viral hepatitis. Antiepidemic measures in the foci of infection. Leading clinical symptoms of acute liver failure in
children with viral hepatitis. Performance laboratory and instrumental studies in the assessment
of severity and prognosis of the course of viral hepatitis with acute liver failure syndrome.
Treatment tactic for patients with viral hepatitis with acute liver failure syndrome. Emergency
care.
Thematic module 3.
Differential diagnosis and urgent states during flu and ARVI in children.
Immunoprophylaxis of infectious diseases in children.
Specific aims:
 Identify the different clinical forms of the course at influenza and ARVI in children of
different ages.
 Identify the treatment tactics for patients with influenza and ARVI in children.
 Demonstrate the ability to manage of medical documents of children suffering from
influenza and ARVI
 Planning of examination of the sick child and interpret results of researches in flu and
ARVI
 To conduct the differential diagnosis and previous clinical diagnosis of flu and ARVI
 Diagnose and provide emergency assistance during emergency conditions caused by
influenza and ARVI
 Demonstrate the ability to assess a vaccination the child by the age
 To plan an individual schedule of vaccinations the child, including age, health and
epidemiological situation
 Diagnose and provide emergency assistance in vaccination reactions and complications
