Transversal
A transversal is a line that
intersects two or more lines
at distinct points
Corresponding Angles
Corresponding angles lie on
the same side of the
transversal and in
corresponding positions
relative to the parallel lines
Alternate Interior Angles
Alternate interior angles are
nonadjacent interior angles
that lie on opposite sides of
the transversal
Alternate Exterior Angles
Alternate exterior angles are
nonadjacent exterior angles
that lie on opposite sides of
the transversal
Same-Side Interior Angles
Same-side interior angles lie
on the same side of the
transversal and between the
two parallel lines
Same-Side Exterior Angles
Same-side exterior angles lie
on the same side of the
transversal and on the
outside of the two parallel
lines
Vertical Angles Theorem
All vertical angles are
congruent
Same-Side Interior Angles Postulate
If a transversal intersects two
parallel lines, then same-side
interior angles are
supplementary
Alternate Interior Angles Theorem
If a transversal intersects two
parallel lines, then alternate
interior angles are congruent
Corresponding Angles Theorem
If a transversal intersects two
parallel lines, then
corresponding angles are
congruent
Alternate Exterior Angles Theorem
If a transversal intersects two
parallel lines, then alternate
exterior angles are
congruent
