Urine examination
The urine is examined by
illness and serious
accidents by using a urine
dipstick. Thus one can
detect the urine contains:
• protein (albumen),
which may be signs of
kidney disease or
damage to urinary tract
• glucose (sugar), which
is a sign of diabetes
• blood, which may be
signs of infection,
damage or diseases of
the urinary tract
• nitrite (a reaction
product of certain
bacteria) or leucocytes
(white blood cells) both
of which may be
indicative of urinary
tract infection.
You will need:
- Urine dipstick
- Container with urine
- Gloves
How to do:
1. Dip the stick briefly into
the freshly bereaved
urine.
2. Read the change of
colour in accordance to
the following instruction
by comparison with the
scale of the sticks
storage bin.
Reading must be done
after alternating periods of
time.
