FRENCH INTENSIVE COURSE – SSAP EI Purpan – Toulouse – France Name of the course: “French as a Foreign Language – crash course for beginners / near beginners” – (half-days) General aim of the course: The aim of this crash course is to give students a basic grasp of French & enable them to deal with simple, everyday situations. Introduction - How to introduce yourself - Numbers & measures 1) The general structure of the sentence - The different types of sentences: interrogative, assertive, negative - Gender & number - Possessive adjectives - A practical aspect: the use of comparatives & superlatives 2) The verb - The pronoun verb - Past participles - Present / past / future tenses 3) Pronouns - The use of pronouns: direct / indirect The place of some pronouns: “en” & “y” 4) Concrete situations - Location in time: duration & frequency - Expressing cause & consequence - Expressing aim, opposition, condition The course focuses on useful situations & the themes are tackled orally thanks to: - Role playing, always focusing on the abovementioned notions & based on everyday situations; - The use of video; - Television extracts like the News so as to build oral comprehension, interaction & fluidity in expression; The last week will be dedicated to the writing & shooting small parts of everyday situations (video). Teaching method: lectures Time estimated for this course: 30h00 to 40h00 Evaluation: Students will be evaluated at the beginning of the course to define the group they will belong to. Then, for the beginner / near beginners: 2 tests are planed during the course, to evaluate students’ participation & students’ progress. Students will be evaluated according to the CECRL (“Cadre Européen Commun de Référence pour les Langues”). Name of the course: “French as a Foreign Language – advanced crash course for Intermediate level” – (half-days) General aim of the course: The aim of this crash course is to build on students’ knowledge of everyday French, so as to facilitate each student’s integration on starting their internship at the end of the month. From introducing things to people, to providing information, conducting a debate & recounting a situation or story, students will learn how to formulate their ideas & express them in a way that is both logical and adapted to their audience. Course content: The course prioritizes oral expression. It is developed through themed tapes & genuine French recordings (news reports, television programs & songs).
