Urban Abbey Eucharist Celebration
Celebrant
I will give thanks to You, O LORD; for although You were angry with me,
People
Your anger is turned away, and You comfort me.
Behold; God is my salvation,
I will trust and not be afraid;
For the LORD GOD is my strength and my song,
He has become my salvation.
With joy we will draw water
From the wells of salvation.
And in this day we proclaim,
Give thanks to the LORD, call on His name.
Make known among the nation what He has done;
He is exalted!
Sing to Him,
You have done glorious things!
Shout aloud and sing for joy, O Church,
Great is the Holy One of Israel in our midst!

Brothers and sisters - this is the day when our Lord Jesus Christ passed from death to life. Throughout
the world Christians celebrate the awesome power of God. As we hear his word and proclaim all that God has done, we
can be confident that we shall share his victory over death and live with him for ever.
Christ is risen,
People
He is risen, indeed!

This evening let us take a few moments to meditate on Jesus’ words as he prayed for Himself, his
disciples, and for all believers. I will read John 17 aloud, after which I encourage you to read the passage on your own,
stopping at any parts that may stick out to you. Re-read the passage and pray along with Jesus.
[as music plays, reflect and pray silently]
Let us remember His words:
Blessed are the poor, for theirs is the Kingdom of God.
Blessed are the hungry, for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall be shown mercy.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they are the children of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness and justice, for great is their reward.

Christ, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world,
Grant us Your peace.
Help us to spread your fragrance everywhere we go.
Soul of Christ, sanctify me;
body of Christ, save me;
blood of Christ, inebriate me;
water from the side of Christ, wash me;
passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O good Jesus, hear me;
within your wounds hide me;
suffer me not to be separated from you;
from the malicious enemy, defend me;
in the hour of my death, call me,
and bid me come to you
that with your saints I may praise you
forever and ever.

Communion
Eucharist Lead Be present, be present, Lord Jesus Christ, our risen high priest;
make yourself known in the breaking of bread.
Amen.
Most gracious God, in the fullness of time you sent Jesus the Christ to share our fragile humanity.
Through His life, death, and resurrection you open the path from darkness to light, from fear to trust,
from pride and conceit to reverence for you.
Rejected by a world that could not bear the Gospel of life, Jesus knew death was near. He gathered
together those who loved Him. He took bread, gave thanks, broke it and gave it to his friends, saying
“take and eat: this is my body which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.”
After supper, Jesus took the cup of wine, gave thanks, and said “Drink this all of you, this is my blood of
the new covenant which is shed for you and for many. Whenever you drink it, do this for the
remembrance of me.”
And so we gather at this table in response to his commandment, to share the bread and cup of Christ’s
undying love, and to proclaim our faith:
Dying, you destroyed our death,
Rising, you restored our life, Lord Jesus, come in glory.
Eucharist Lead Jesus says, I am the bread of life, whoever eats this bread will live for ever.
Lord, our hearts hunger for you; give us this bread always.
[All followers of Jesus, please come forward to receive the elements]

Resurrection
by Christina Rossetti
Out in the rain a world is growing green,
On half the trees quick buds are seen
Where glued-up buds have been.
Out in the rain God’s Acre stretches green,
Its harvest quick tho’ still unseen:
For there the Life hath been.
If Christ hath died His brethren well may die,
Sing in the gate of death, lay by
This life without a sigh:
For Christ hath died and good it is to die;
To sleep whenso He lays us by,
Then wake without a sigh.
Yea, Christ hath died, yea, Christ is risen again:
Wherefore both life and death grow plain
To us who wax and wane;
For Christ who rose shall die no more again:
Amen: till He makes all things plain
Let us wax on and wane
