La pronunciación 2
Episode notes:
Welcome to this episode – La pronunciación 2.
This second phonics episode will help you to pronounce some more key letters in
Spanish and make the links between the sound and the spelling. On a computer or
whiteboard you will be able to see the word as well as listen. If not you can always
print off a script from the .pdf file.
Presentation of key sounds and words 1
In Spanish the letter ‘h’ is always silent. So the Spanish verb to make, spelled h-a-ce-r, is pronounced ‘hacer’ (a-th-air).
Here are some words to help you practise this.
Escuchad y repetid.
¡Hola!

In Spanish, you also need to remember that the letter ‘v’ sounds like the ‘b’ in the
word ‘boy’, but spoken softly with lips barely meeting. Listen to these words
beginning with a ‘v’ and have a go yourself.

Presentation of key sounds and words 2
When doubled, the letter ‘l’ is pronounced like the ‘y’ in ‘yes’ and you must also
remember that the letter ‘r’ is trilled far more than in English. This is particularly so
when it starts a word or when it is doubled.
Here are some words which contain the letters double ‘l’ and ‘r and double ‘r’.
