Introduction Unit:

Know the body cavities: cranial, thoracic, abdominopelvic
Know the body planes (all we discussed in class)
Know the directional terms: medial, lateral, distal, proximal, superior, inferior, deep, superficial
Endocrine Unit:


Know the structure, function, and hormones secreted by: thymus, thyroid, pituitary, pineal,
pancreas, adrenal, ovary, testes
Know the hormones associated with the glands above (where they are made, where they go,
what they do)
Integumentary Unit:





Know the structure and function of: sebum, keratin, melanin, papillary layer, sudoriferous
glands (sweat), hypodermis, dermis, epidermis, hair follicle
Know the layers of the epidermis
Know the functions of the skin
Know the ABDCE rule
Reproductive Unit:



Know the structure and function of: epididymis, sperm, ductus deferens (vas deferens), gonads,
uterus, cervix, glans penis, scrotum, prostate, fallopian tube, round ligament, ovary, vagina
Know the terms: ejaculation, semen, oocyte, gametes, ovulation, implantation
Know the hormones: LH, progesterone, testosterone
Blood and Cardiovascular Unit:






Know the terms (functions, structures, etc): erythropoiesis, platelets, plasma
Know the different blood types
Know all of the parts of the heart and what type of blood flows through each part
(deoxygenated or oxygenated)

Know the structure and function of: renal medulla, nephron, urethra, bladder, renal cortex,
kidney, ureter, renal artery/vein
Know the parts of the nephron and functions of each
Know the process of how urine is formed
Know where reabsorption takes place
Know what urine is normally made of
