predicate nominative
is a noun or pronoun that
follows a
linking verb.
A predicate nominative names the same person, place, thing, or idea as the subject.

How do you identify a
predicate nominative?

come after a linking verb.

How do you code a
predicate nominative?
1) Make sure you have a linking verb.
2) Ask yourself if there is a noun or
pronoun after the linking verb in the
sentence.
3) Ask yourself if that noun or pronoun
means the same thing or person as the
subject.
4) If it does, it is the predicate nominative.
5) Mark it with a PN.

How do you code a predicate
nominative?
1) Make sure you have a linking verb.
