 English Translation Fact Triangle Activity
Fact Triangles have three numbers connected by
mathematical operation.
In first grade, children play with Fact Triangles for
addition/subtraction with fact families through 9 + 9 and
18 – 9
These families are reviewed in second grade, and
multiplication/division Fact Triangles are introduced.
In third grade, children get addition/subtraction and
multiplication/division Fact Triangles.
Fact Triangles are best used with partners. One player
covers a corner with a finger, and the other player gives
an addition or subtraction (or multiplication or division)
fact that has the hidden number as an answer.
In all grades, a useful long term project is to have
students write the appropriate four number models on the
back of each Fact Triangle.
An example is.
Number family 2, 3 ,6
Fact family 2  3  6 3  2  6 6  2  3 6  3  2
