iLASIK
The most customized LASIK procedure possible.
All-laser and truly personal - everything based on
your personal vision dynamics.
iLASIK combines the most advanced CustomVue
platform with InterLase for a fully customizable
blade-free procedure. The IntraLase laser uses
precisely controlled femtosecond micro pulses to
create a very uniform and precise flap, without the
use of a blade, as in traditional LASIK.
So safe and precise, it is endorsed by the
United States Military and NASA.
CUSTOM LASIK
This procedure corrects imperfections of your
eye also known as “high-order aberrations” that
traditional glasses or contacts cannot correct.
This advanced treatment is custom designed to
give you the best vision correction possible.
VISX CustomVue™ Wavefront technology allows
the surgeon to see aberrations on the eye clearly,
and then maps them on a computer to record the
unique “fingerprint” of your eye. It is 25 percent
more precise than traditional measurement
methods used for glasses and contact lenses.
PRK
Identical to LASIK with one major difference.
With PRK, or Photorefractive Keratectomy, there is
no flap created.
Because PRK does not create a corneal flap, the
entire thickness of the underlying stroma is available
for treatment. This is of particular benefit if the
cornea is too thin for LASIK. Additionally, those with
a very active lifestyle might find additional benefits
to PRK vs. traditional LASIK.
FAQ’s
“Caring for Arizona’s Eyes for 30 Years”
QUESTIONS ARE GOOD. ANSWERS ARE BETTER.
What is LASIK?
Laser Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis is a surgical
procedure in which a laser is used to reshape the
cornea. Your board certified Nationwide Vision
ophthalmologist will create a corneal flap, then
use a cool excimer laser to reshape the underlying
tissue. The flap will then be put back in place,
allowing for a quick and relatively painless visual
recovery for most patients.
Does LASIK surgery correct only nearsightedness?
No, LASIK can correct nearsightedness, as well as
farsightedness and astigmatism.
Am I a candidate?
If you need glasses or contacts to correct
nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism,
you may be a candidate for surgery.
Will I be awake during my surgery?
A mild sedative and anesthetic drops are
administered before surgery. You will be fully
conscious, yet relaxed, throughout the procedure.
What happens during the recovery period?
You will wear clear, protective glasses until the
next day. These glasses will protect against foreign
objects entering your eyes. Your eyes may feel
scratchy and may tear up for about four hours
after surgery.

LASIK and other refractive procedures
for the best sight possible.
YOUR EYES ARE
IN GOOD HANDS.
Imagine, in the time it takes to order a coffee
at your local coffeehouse, you can be seeing
clearer than ever before. LASIK alters the
curvature of the eye to correct nearsightedness,
farsightedness, and astigmatism. Virtually
painless, minimally-invasive and is conducted on
an outpatient basis.
Determining if you are a candidate is the first
step. If you’re between the ages of 18 and 45
and your vision has been stable for the past 2
years, you may be in great shape. Ultimately,
no two eyes are exactly the same. No two
corneal maps are the same, just like a fingerprint.
So a pre-operative exam will determine your
candidacy for LASIK.

CONTACT LENSES
Tired of fighting with your contact lenses? Been
told your prescription is too high to be a LASIK
candidate? Visian ICL could be just right for you.
Contact lenses are wonderful. They help you see
clearly without the need for glasses. But the every
day and every night care can be sometimes too
much to handle. Plus, dirt and allergies can make
them unbearable.
Visian ICL is an Implantable Contact Lens that
works with the eye to correct vision. Unlike
traditional contact lenses that go on the surface of
the eye, the Visian ICL is positioned inside the eye
between the iris (the colored part of the eye) and
the natural lens where it stays indefinitely. And in
the future should your vision change dramatically,
it can be removed from the eye.
The perfect candidates are people between 21 and
45 and nearsighted, especially those with a very
high prescription. It’s also ideal for patients
with thin corneas and dry eyes.
If you are tired of the every day hassle you face
with your contact lenses, ask about Visian ICL
today. And see clearly tomorrow.
CLEAR LENS EXCHANGE
A refractive lensectomy, or Clear Lens
Exchange, can turn the clock back for anyone
over 40 to restore both near and distance vision
to youthful clarity.
By replacing the natural lens with an artificial
lens, this procedure also removes any possibility
of developing cataracts later in life. And unlike
the refractive procedures that change the shape
of the cornea, a clear lens exchange corrects
vision by removing the eye’s crystalline lens and
replacing it with an artificial lens.
A clear lens exchange can be used to treat
nearsighted and farsighted as well as agerelated presbyopia (where patients require
reading glasses.)
As always, your experience and vision is first and
foremost on our minds. Our staff of medical
professionals will take you through each and
every phase of your procedure and after care.
