calcium in blood
When Calcium concentration
falls below normal...
1. chief cells secrete PTH
2. release of stored calcium from bone
3. enhanced reabsorption of calcium in
kidneys
4. stimulation of calcitriol production at
kidneys
Hyper/Hypo-Secretion
• Hyperparathyroidism: PT gland produces
too much PTH due to a tumor on PT
gland
• Hypoparathyroidism: when PT gland
produces too little PTH
