Metamorphosis
a kind of insect development
which includes four life stages an egg, a larva, a pupa and an
adult stage.
Incomplete
Metamorphosis
the development of certain
insects that includes three distinct
life stages – the egg, the nymph,
and the adult stage.
Life Cycle
the series of distinct stages of life
that most organisms grow and
mature through.
Stages
Egg
A distinct step or period of
development, growth, or
progress.
the first stage in the life cycle of
most insects.

Larva
the immature, wingless, feeding
stage of an insect that undergoes
complete metamorphosis.
Pupa
the nonfeeding, usually immobile,
transformation stage between the
larva and the adult stage.
Adult
the stage at which an organism is
fully developed and can
reproduce.
Nymph
the immature form of those
insects that do not pass through a
pupa stage. Nymphs usually
resemble the adults, but are
smaller, lack fully developed
wings, and are not able to
reproduce.
Molting
to shed, or loose, an outer skin
for replacement by a new growth.
